When Leah and I decided to go to California for our honeymoon, we knew we wanted to see Yosemite National Park. Roughy four hours from San Francisco, we planned a few days hiking and relaxing.
Waiting for sunset
Sunset that day was roughly 7:30 p.m. We hiked Sentinel Dome around 1 p.m., which left us plenty of time to walk around Glacier Point and chill out before sunset. While the sky was fairly hazy, the colors got better and better as the sun got closer to dipping below the horizon.
Enjoying the colors
One of the exciting parts of seeing the sunset was seeing the change in the colors. The sky shifted from a faded blue to a pink that dipped into the shadows of the canyon below. The photo above is of @christophe_stylee overlooking the valley floor.
Here, you'll see the colors I described above. It truly takes your breathe away to see the sun move up from the bottom to the top of Half Dome.
I really liked playing with different edits to balance the light I had. This edit above is currently my desktop background. I pushed the sky a bit ti emphasize the pink across the mountain tops.
If you're ever headed to Yosemite, make sure Glacier Point is on your list. It's definitely a great destination to catch the sunset.
