I’ve had the chance to visit Barcelona twice over the past few years. I think it is an urban photographer’s dream city — dense and packed with people, full of culture, and plenty of diverse areas to explore. I had a work trip to be a part of Mobile World Congress and decided to the city a few days early to shoot.
For the few days I was in Barcelona, I walked through the Gothic Quarter and El Born, Eixample and Gracia, as well as a few other popular areas. The Gothic and Born neighborhoods, known as the "old city" feature twisting and winding brick streets, contrasted with the square, grid-based blocks of Eixample and Gracia.
For the trip, I took my Nikon D7100 with two lenses: the Nikkor 17-55 F2.8 and Tokina 12-24 F4. I found myself switching between the two frequently, as I wanted to balance shooting street shots from a distance with architectural photos.
Barcelona features several parks and plazas -- the photos above and below were taken of the Cascada Monumental in Parc de Ciutadella.
